The e-Kings Law Reports Narrative

In the publisher's own words — with the original letters and covers from the archive.

  • 1993Started in 1993 as Kings Law Reports (ALL SC Decisions).
  • 1998As from 1998, it became (ALL SC/NOVEL CA), as we started adding some novel Court of records decisions.
  • 2016Hard copy KLR ended in 2016 after publication of that year's Comprehensive Index. The hard copies from 1993 to 2016, less 2 years that are only in soft copy, were sold in yearly sets, with yearly Comprehensive Index.
  • 2017Then from 2017 it became e-KLR, now on play store.

The e-KLR is using proper law reporting method in a unique style towards achieving promotion of justice. Thus before we started the KLR publication in 1993, we wrote, and met 3 key personalities at Lagos, then the capital of Nigeria. The CJN, Director Council of Legal Education (Nigerian Law School), and Chief Rotimi Williams, SAN. We stated our proposed goal and style of law reporting in the letters. The replies of some of them, welcoming the KLR are presented below. Thereafter, they all subscribed to supply of the KLR.

From about 1994, after starting the publication in 1993, the KLR was being distributed across the nation through various law offices, and agents. See the following backcover of (1994) 8 KLR (Pt. 20).

At about 2015, based on the dynamic features of the KLR, the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court bought many sets. CA was to distribute them to their various divisional libraries across the nation. SC placed them in their lordships' various chambers.

By the following letter, Ogundare JSC, suggested that we diversify to publishing High Court judgments.

With the termination of hard copy KLR after 2016, the e-KLR from 2017 up, is set to be including novel High Court, and other court of records' decisions. We request that judges, and lawyers be sending such HC decisions for publication by us. SC judgments from 1992 to about 1956 are to be included as any year gets ready. Novel selected ancient law reports cases from WACA, ENLR, etc., would be published in the days ahead.

All these are geared towards making the e-KLR an ALL LAW REPORTS tool for the legal profession. We implore you therefore, to go ahead subscribing, using and introducing others to the e-KLR app.
