The story behind e-Kings Law Reports
Three decades of proper law reporting in a unique style, from hard-copy volumes welcomed by the Supreme Court in 1993, to the e-KLR app of today.
Law reporting towards the promotion of justice
Kings Law Reports (KLR) started in 1993, publishing Supreme Court decisions. From 1998 it became ALL SC / NOVEL CA, adding novel Court of Appeal cases from that court's 1978 inception.
Before the first volume was published, we wrote to and met three key personalities in Lagos, then the capital of Nigeria; the Chief Justice of Nigeria, the Director of the Council of Legal Education (Nigerian Law School), and Chief Rotimi Williams, SAN stating our proposed goal and style of law reporting. Their replies welcomed the KLR, and they all subscribed to its supply.
From about 1996, Chief Justices of Nigeria, amongst others, became members of the KLR Editorial Team. By 2015, based on the KLR's dynamic features, the Court of Appeal bought sets for its divisional libraries across the nation, and the Supreme Court placed them in their lordships' various chambers.
Hard-copy KLR ended in 2016 after that year's Comprehensive Index. From 2017 it became the e-KLR, now on Play Store, and set to include novel High Court and other courts of record decisions, SC judgments back to about 1956, and selected ancient reports from WACA, ENLR and beyond.

Distribution spreads across the nation through law offices and agents in over 30 cities.

Chief Justices of Nigeria, amongst others, join the KLR Editorial Team.

Becomes ALL SC / NOVEL CA — adding novel Court of Appeal cases from the court's 1978 inception.

The Court of Appeal and Supreme Court acquire sets for divisional libraries and justices' chambers nationwide.

Hard-copy era closes with the year's Comprehensive Index — yearly sets from 1993 to 2016.

The e-KLR is born — now on Google Play, growing into an ALL LAW REPORTS tool for the legal profession.
